Sauna

I wonder how many people know where the origin of saunas are.

Believe it or not, that's "Finland".
(sorry if it sounds utterly nothing new for you, though)

The way Finns treat saunas is almost like the way we(Japanese) do to a bath, but the different point is that it's generally possible in Finnish sauna to take alcohol with them. In a way, it looks dangerous if you totally get drunk inside of a sauna but except that, it's gonna be fine and exciting, at least for me:)

In terms of this Sauna thing, what remind me the most is the fact that the mother of my partner suggested me to have sauna with him when visiting her home for the first time. It was just so unbelievable ....

and I was like,

"wwhhhaaat?"

Tell you what, as far as I know about Japan, there is none of customs that a mom ask a son/daughter to take a bath with his/her partner together: )

but I do love openness of Finnish parents since most of them in Japan are inclined to be pretty strict for relationship with a partner. For example, surprisingly enough, my mom didn't let me sleep with my partner as he came over at my place in Japan but strangely enough it was okay to travel around with him:)

After all, it's weird.
